SIMS Lonavala (Updated on 12 March 2008)
R&D Personnel (2 Positions)
As part of the institute's plan to build a dynamic, top-class research and consultancy centre, we are seeking two outstanding candidates on a full-time basis. Selected candidates will have the privilege of interacting with and getting support of a large pool of professionals with vast experience of the ship systems and operation, and instrumentation.
Requirement:
1.
Candidate should have a sound academic background in Maritime Engineering (e.g. Naval Architecture, Offshore, Ocean or Coastal Engineering)
2.
Candidates having a research background in an allied field (e.g. Mechanical, Aeronautical Engineering) are also encouraged to apply
3.
Candidates should have strong research potential and capabilities
4.
Candidates should be able to work both independently as well as in a team.
5.
Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:
 •
Marine and offshore hydrodynamics
•
Dynamic response and analysis of free and constrained structures in the marine environment
•
Advanced structural analysis in various contexts of the maritime and (marine) oil & gas industry

Minimum 2 years of sailing experience as Master Mariner preferably on Tankers


Engineering Faculty
(2 positions available at SIMS, Lonavala)
Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of sailing experience as Chief Engineer preferably on Tankers
Marine Workshop Instructor
 (1 positions available at SIMS Lonavala)
Requirements:

Candidates holding Class IV / Class III motor COC looking for stepping ashore for future prospects and having 4-5 years of sailing experience.
Others:

Short listed Candidate(s) must be willing to relocate to Lonavala.
GAS Faculty
(2 positions available at SIMS, Lonavala and 1 position available at SIMS, Mumbai)
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of sailing experience in capacity of Master Mariner or Chief Engineer on Gas Carriers / Tankers
    OR
  • At least 5 years on seafaring experience on board Gas Carriers / Tankers

  ***Candidates applying for SIMS, Lonavala must be willing to relocate.
  1. All above will be required to obtain their TOTA/TOTI certification on their own either before joining or afterwards
  2. All posts will involve administration work of training centre in relevant areas, taking charge of development of workshops, fitting out and maintenance of new equipment and machinery, etc.
  3. Previous experience in training centre is not essential, but will be advantageous.
    Compensation will be commensurate with qualification & experience and will be comparable to best offered in the industry.
