SIMS Lonavala
R&D In-Charge (1 Position)
As part of the institute's plan to build a dynamic, top-class research and consultancy centre, we are seeking an outstanding candidate on a full-time basis. Selected candidate will have the privilege of interacting with and getting support of a large pool of professionals with vast experience of the ship systems and operation, and instrumentation.

Qualification:

  •  M.Tech in Engineering with Ph.D in fields related to marine thermal systems, mechanical design, structural analysis, computational fluid dynamics, oceanography, modeling & stimulation.

Experience:

  • 15 years of experience in R&D / Academic Laboratory or Institution / Corporate R&D out of which at least 5 years as the Head of R&D activities.
  • Past experience in maritime related fields and teaching at UG/PG level preferred.

Job Profile:
Candidate should be able to:

  • Lead a R&D Team
  • Conceptualize and execute R&D projects undertaken by the institute
  • Liaise with the Internal and External bodies for crystallization and smooth conduct of R&D activities
  • Manage related budgeting

Engineering Faculty

Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of sailing experience as Chief Engineer preferably on Tankers
Electrical/Electronics Faculty/Lecturer

Requirements:
  • B.E Electrical (or equivalent certificate from Indian Navy for E/O); OR
  • Minimum 5 years of seafaring experience on ocean-going vessels as E/O
  • Tanker experience will be an added advantage

 
Chemistry Lecturer
(1 position available at SIMS, Lonavala)
Requirements:
  • Postgraduate and above in Chemistry
  • At least one year teaching experience as Lecturer / teacher
AMOS Instructor
(1 position available at SIMS, Mumbai)
Requirements:
  • B.E. in Computer Sciences; OR
  • Minimum 5 years of seafaring experience on ocean-going vessels as a Petty Officer / Electrical Officer
  • Knowledge of maintenance and spares control
  • Teaching capability with good command of English and marine vocabulary

  ***Candidates applying for SIMS, Lonavala must be willing to relocate.
  1. All above will be required to obtain their TOTA/TOTI certification on their own either before joining or afterwards
  2. All posts will involve administration work of training centre in relevant areas, taking charge of development of workshops, fitting out and maintenance of new equipment and machinery, etc.
  3. Previous experience in training centre is not essential, but will be advantageous.
    Compensation will be commensurate with qualification & experience and will be comparable to best offered in the industry.
