The highlight of the month of March was indeed the awards and distinctions we have received at various levels of the operation. It recognized our quiet endeavour in excelling in whatever we do infusing our innovative ideas and professional ethos.

While it has never been an ESM culture to actively seek such recognition, what makes the Sailor Today Award to SIMS more

meaningful in fact is that the nomination was sent by our esteemed client, BP. We would like to consider that as a more prestigious award by itself. We thank BP for such an exceptional gesture of appreciation of what we are.

Congratulations to all our staff both at SIMS and ESM who made it happen. Well done and keep it up!

ENYS DAN VISITS ESM, SINGAPORE

Mr. Enys Dan, Director, Marine Assurance, BP Shipping paid a courtesy visit at ESM Singapore office on 15th March 2006 and renewed his close bond with ESM ever since the partnership between ESM and BP had started. Apart from the regular professional exchanges, Enys also addressed all the ESM employees and once again reiterated his (and BP’s) per topic i.e “Safety”.

Mr. Dan who had visited M.T. British Beech, a BP Vessel under ESM’s management a day earlier, commended ESM for the good job and the team work of both the sailing and the shore staff in maintaining such high standards. However, recounting the explosion at the BP Refinery in Texas City that resulted in around 70 injuries and 14 fatalities, he emphasized that safety is one aspect which could never be compromised under any circumstances – “There is no job worth doing, if not done cautiously”.

His speech was supported by Mr. Teeka who also emphasized the significance of the issue in achieving ESM’s aim of zero injuries and zero spills.
