SAMUNDRA INSTITUTE
OF MARITIME STUDIES (SIMS) Crossed another milestone, as our in-house
training institute successfully underwent an extensive inspection on
21st July 2003 ,by Director General Shipping surveyor as a
pre-requisite for granting approval of various IMO courses on
Specialised Training for tankers- particularly chemical tankers and
Oil tankers.
A big congratulations for the entire team of trainers and staff who
have been putting their heart and soul in making this institute not
only one of its kind in India but a truly international in its
standard and reputation.
The three courses which are being approved are
1. CHEMCO
2. CHEMFAM and
3. OILFAM
In fact, we have received rave reviews from representatives from
various national and international agencies and organizations who have
so far visited our institute and came out thoroughly impressed with
the innovative ideas and concepts incorporated in making the training
truly completely hands-on and practical.
All possible resources and efforts have been utilized to ensure that with the training imparted at the institute, each of
our crew member arrives on board a very knowledgeable and confident
worker.
In fact, through our continuous monitoring and interactions ,we
are indeed very happy to notice the improved performances in our
vessels and the feed back received from the masters have been a great
boost to the moral of the training staff.

British Willow was discharging at Texas City when she was joined
by her sister M.T.British Oak.

With special permission
from the terminal our third mate Mohan Dinakaran o/b Willow was thence
dispatched on a mooring boat with two digital cameras. The results
weren’t too bad- at least we do have witnesses that these two were
indeed British Oak and British Willow!
