June 1, 2003
Executive ship management is proudly celebrating our fifth anniversary on 01st June,
03.
We are proud of our staff –both sailing and ashore whose continuous hard work and dedication made it possible for us to reach this stage.
Congratulations and well
done !
We also take this opportunity to thank our silent back-up team i.e. families of each of our staff whose support and understanding are the backbone of our
success.
What could have been a better way to celebrate the occasion but to have a family get together?
Indeed, we had a grand anniversary celebration as a Family Day on 31st May eve at Shangri-La’s Rasa
Sentosa Resort beach. We had games, we had music, we had entertainers regaling us with comedies, magic shows and of course did not miss making sandcastles with our children in the beach! In a nutshell we all had loads and loads of
FUN.
Fanfare started with team building games and then extended to telematches. The games were played with full participation from the families including children ranging from toddlers to 16 year olds. We had a sumptuous menu specially prepared by the Rasa
Sentosa chefs as per our requirement of a good mixture of vegetarian and non-vegetarian and eastern and western cuisine.
UPDATES ON HSE
Further to our last months information on our Health, Safety and Environment Protection Policy, we have been devoting considerable amount of quality time on getting our HSE
right. Our continuous aim is to enhance the awareness of our seafarers regarding personal safety issues and
emphasize how serious we are in our commitment towards the same. In fact, it starts from the top management so that it gets trickled down to those sailing board through our
superintendents.
Accordingly, during second and fourth weeks of May, company superintendents received training in following
areas:
1. Take 5 – Engage the brain before the hands
2. Advanced Safety Auditing
3. HSE Toolbox
Needless to say, our training institute (SIMS) is now briefing all senior officers joining the vessel on the following subjects on routine
basis:
1. Overview of HSE performance
2. Advanced Safety Auditing
The above-mentioned training courses are specifically geared to help develop safety culture on board our ships by instituting behavioural changes. We are certain that with our strong emphasis on ensuring personal safety on board, Masters and seafarers on board our ships will not spare any efforts in helping us achieve “ZERO INJURY, ZERO
ACCIDENT”.
Finally, our HSE message to all our employees is:
"NO JOB IS SO IMPORTANT THAT IT CANNOT BE DONE SAFELY."
LATEST AT SIMS
Chemistry is an integral subject for those sailing in Chemical tankers. Regular demonstration of Wall Wash Test is provided at SIMS as part of the Chemical Tanker
Courses.
No training course for the month of June is scheduled. The courses will resume in the month of
July. The month of July has been designated for doing the Gap Analysis by our teaching staffs
on various ships as per our HSE requirements.
