A delicious dish that combines the flavors of tender fish with a spicy and tangy sauce. Serve it as an appetizer or a main course for a delightful meal.

Ingredients you'll need

For the fish:

  • 500g fish fillets (cut into bite-sized cubes)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp flour, salt and pepper

For the chilli sauce:

  • 1 medium onion (diced)
  • 1 green bell pepper (diced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp chilli sauce
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 1 tbsp tomato ketchup

Cornstarch slurry:

  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water.

Instructions

  1. Toss the fish cubes with the soy sauce, ginger-garlic paste, salt, pepper, cornstarch, and flour until lightly coated. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
  2. Arrange the fish pieces in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking tray. Spray lightly with cooking oil and bake at 200°C (400°F) for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway, until crispy and cooked through.
  3. In a pan or wok, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic, diced onions, and bell peppers. Sauté for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the soy sauce, chilli sauce, vinegar, and ketchup. Add the cornstarch slurry and let the sauce simmer and thicken for a minute.
  5. Fold your baked fish pieces into the sauce, toss gently until fully coated, and garnish with spring onion greens.
