A delightful dish with succulent prawns, perfect as an appetizer or main course.

Ingredients you'll need

  • Prawns: 250 gms (peeled and deveined)
  • Plain flour: 10 gms
  • Corn starch: 5 gms
  • Egg: 1 pc (beaten)
  • Pepper powder: 1 pinch
  • Salt: To taste
  • Breadcrumbs: 30 gms (for coating)
  • Cooking oil: 1–2 tablespoons
  • For Garnish: Chopped spring onion, lemon wedges, and sliced capsicum

Instructions

  1. Wash the prawns, remove the heads, and pat them completely dry with a paper towel.
  2. Place the prawns in a mixing bowl. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk the plain flour, corn starch, and the beaten egg together to create a light batter.
  4. Pour the batter over the prawns. Mix until they are evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate to marinate for 20 minutes.
  5. Remove from the fridge. Gently toss the battered prawns in a shallow bowl of breadcrumbs so they are fully coated.
  6. Pre-heat a frying pan over medium heat and drizzle in the oil. Once the oil is hot, pan-fry the prawns in batches for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until they turn opaque and golden-brown.
  7. Transfer to a serving platter and garnish with chopped spring onions, fresh lemon juice, and sliced capsicum.
